Nitric oxide is a gas that is produced inside the body. It is used by the body to communicate between the cells. The enzymes present in the body break down the building blocks of protein i.e. amino acids to produce nitric oxide.

Nitric Oxide can help you make your workout productive. All the hard work done with exercises can be lost if you are not feeding your body in the right way. In your diet plan, you need to ensure that you get enough energy to perform your exercise sets. You should take enough protein to build your muscles and magnesium to keep your blood pressure low.

When you are exercising, your body needs to work accordingly. If you want to speed up the reps, your body should respond in the same way, you intended. This needs proper communication between the body cells. Nitric Oxide’s main function is to deliver messages between the body cells. It also helps in controlling the circulation of blood. The regulating activities of the brain, lungs, stomach and other organs is also controlled by nitric oxide.

If you are a bodybuilder and in the process of building your muscles, you should take nitric oxide supplements. Nitric Oxide supplements affect the release of hormones. It also delivers more nutrients to the muscles and helps them grow. As nitric oxide is released from the body, muscles start tightening up and thus you are able to work out more. Athletes believe that taking nitric oxide supplements helps them work harder and for longer. However, there is no supporting evidence to prove their point.

Nitric Oxide supplements actually include arginine and not nitric oxide. Arginine is naturally found in foods such as green vegetables, sesame seeds, crab, shrimps, fish and white meat which helps the body to produce nitric oxide.

The side-effects of nitric oxide supplements are so minor that you do need to worry about them. They include nausea, diarrhea, and headache. While nitric oxide supplements pose a small challenge to your health, many products are completely safe when they are consumed in the advised dose. The above side effects are negligible and only affect a small portion of users. As long as you maintain a proper healthy diet and participate in regular exercise, you can enjoy the benefits nitric oxide has to offer.

These supplements come in powdered form. Nitric Oxide powder is usually mixed with a liquid (preferably milk) and then these liquids are absorbed by the body faster and more efficiently than capsules, tablets or pills. It is the best way to consume nitric oxide food supplements. You can also mix them in shakes to enhance the taste and make them delicious.

However, it is always best to consult a doctor before adding supplements (nitric oxide or otherwise) to your diet. If you are taking some medications, it is best to know which supplements can suit your body and which can be harmful.
