In countless households, overnight oats have become a firm favourite. Not only are they incredibly nutritious, but they're also easy to prepare, AND they guarantee a pudding-like and creamy texture - bonus.
We've put together some of our favourite recipes that guarantee to take your grab-and-go breakfast to whole new heights:
1) Chocolate and banana
Chocolate and banana is a match made in heaven, so it's no surprise that this recipe is our go-to.
You'll need:
- 120ml milk of your choice
- 1 ripe banana, roughly chopped
- ½ tbsp cocoa powder
- 40g rolled oats
METHOD
Simply place the banana, milk and cocoa power into a blender and blitz until smooth. Now all that's left to do is pour the mixture over your oats and stir. Leave them to soak in the fridge in a container and VOILA - they're ready to enjoy.
2) Carrot cake
What better way to start the day than with a cake-inspired breakfast?
You'll need:
- 120ml milk of your choice
- ½ carrot, finely grated
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- Drizzle of honey
- 40g rolled oats
METHOD
Simply mix the oats, chia seeds, allspice, cinnamon and carrot together before pouring the milk and vanilla extract over. Now drizzle with a bit of runny honey and leave to soak in the fridge.
The best part about this breakfast? You'll be sneaking in one of your five-a-day before you've even left the house.
3) Blueberry and honey
Take things back to basics with this traditional-yet-tasty recipe.
You'll need:
- 120ml milk of your choice
- 1 handful of blueberries
- Drizzle of honey
- 40g rolled oats
METHOD
Simply mix the milk, oats and blueberries before drizzling generously with honey. Leave to soak in the fridge in a container before rising, shining, and enjoying.
