Craving something sweet? Well before you crack open a tub of Ben & Jerry’s (with no intention of sharing it), why not grab an apron and get ready to channel your inner Jamie Oliver!
Here are our top three protein-packed recipes:
Protein Pancakes
Gone are the days when pancakes were reserved for Shrove Tuesday.
Whether you need to re-fuel following an intense workout or you just fancy a healthy alternative to the traditional treat, we’ve got the ideal recipe for you!
Firstly, head to the supermarket and pick up a few bits. You’ll need:
- 1 Banana, mashed
- 30g oats
- 1 egg
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- Squeeze of honey
- 1 tbsp plain yoghurt
First things first, thoroughly mix the mashed banana, oats, egg and protein powder in a bowl. Once the mixture is relatively smooth, grab a large frying pan and add a splash of oil. Now, carefully pour 3 or 4 puddles of mixture into the pan (which should be sat over a medium heat) and leave to cook for one minute on each side. Once cooked through, serve in a stack with a squeeze of honey, plain yoghurt and some roughly chopped fruit.
Simple, tasty and packed full of protein!
Dark Chocolate & Almond Protein Cookies
What if we told you there’s cookies out there that are jam-packed with protein, antioxidants, fibre and healthy fats? You’d think we were lying, right? Well think again!
Firstly, head to the supermarket and pick up a few bits. You’ll need:
- 1/4 cup vanilla protein powder
- 3 tbsp almond butter
- 2 tbsp coconut sugar (use caster if you don't have access to this)
- 1 ts coconut oil
- 1/4 cup almond milk
- 1/4 cup ground almonds
- A few chunks of dark chocolate, roughly chopped
First of all, Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Now, simply chuck all the ingredients into a bowl and get mixing. Once you've formed a dough, make small balls using your hands and place them on the tray. Now all that’s left to do is flatten the balls slightly (using your fingers or a spoon) and then bake for 10-12 minutes.
Once ready, leave to cool completely. Note: the cookies will be crumbly whilst they're hot so it's important to let them cool and set. Once cold, tuck in and enjoy.
Protein Mousse
Sick and tired of plain old protein shakes? Then jazz up your routine and create a post-workout mousse. The mouse takes around 3 minutes to prepare so why not make it your go-to recipe?
Firstly, head to the supermarket and pick up a few bits. You’ll need:
- 200g plain yoghurt
- 1 scoop protein powder – choose whichever flavour takes your fancy. We’d recommend strawberry or chocolate (classic).
- Handful of fresh berries
- 1/4 cup ground almonds
- Sprinkle of desiccated coconut
Mix the plain yoghurt and protein powder together before decorating with chopped berries and a generous sprinkle of desiccated coconut. Now tuck in and enjoy.
